| Your Itinerary Monday From Calais through Belgium to arrive in Valkenburg, Holland’s most popular inland tourist centre. |
| Tuesday A day at Valkenburg, set in a wooded valley overlooked by a ruined castle. The highlight of the day will be an included visit to the unique Christmas Market, held in a series of underground grottoes, beautifully illuminated by candlelight, where decorated stalls sell handmade arts and crafts. This is Europe’s largest and oldest underground Christmas Market. |
| Wednesday A full day tour into Germany. In the morning visit the delightful medieval town of Monschau, set in a deep valley in the Eifel hills, below two ruined hilltop fortresses, with many half timbered buildings and narrow alleyways. Continue to the imperial city of Aachen, the capital of Emperor Charlemagne, to explore the large Christmas Market, which is held between the majestic cathedral and ornate town hall. Aachen Printen gingerbread is a local speciality. |
| Thursday Morning excursion to vibrant Maastricht, one of Holland’s oldest towns, where the market square is transformed into a Winter wonderland at Christmas time. |
| Friday Sadly we return to Calais, and homeward. |
